Geometry

The 'Bugatti' maths group did some outstanding work today making challenging 3D shapes. The group can confidently discuss the number of edges, vertices and faces.

Future engineers in the making!

Goodbye Lebron

Lebron is leaving Sacred Heart and New Zealand to go and live in Miami! Thanks to Lebron's parents we had a yummy pizza lunch and the class gifted Lebron a special book to treasure.

Lebron always puts 100% into his learning and has been a joy to teach.
Room 7 will miss Lebron dearly!

Keep in touch and enjoy this fantastic, new adventure Lebron.

Kapa Haka

I was so proud of the Senior Kapa Haka last night for performing and behaving beautifully at the Aurora Centre. The students sang with passion and put in 100%. Everybody has been blown away by their amazing work! I look forward to start preparing for the Cultural Festival!

Year 8 Team Building

The year 8 students had a fantastic time rock climbing and working together! Have a read of some of the students thoughtful, thank you letters to the instructors & check out our action photos!

Dear Andy and Anna

I am writing to thank you for giving us a wonderful year 8 experience that I will never forget. Thank you for giving us an opportunity to bond as seniors. Also thank you for helping us when we were stuck on the rock climbing task. You were always there to help us every time we needed it and checking if we’re ready to go climbing.

I learnt how to control my climbing by pushing with my legs not my arms to keep me in balance. I also learnt how to be a belayer properly, giving trust to the pilot and to pull, grab, lock, and  slide. I faced my fears of heights by never looking down and I kept on trying my best to reach the highest point.

My favourite part of the day was being the belayer because I could control my pull, grab, lock and slide and check if the climber was comfortable while going up or down. I liked belaying because my friends could trust me and I could help them do the right things.

Yours sincerely,

Sarah Ventura

Dear Andy,  Anna and Mark

Thank you for the great opportunity that you gave us and for the chance to have a great time and go indoor rock climbing. I really do think the lesson you have given us will help bring us together more as a class and a school. I learnt that life is like a plane it takes the people on the plane operating it to work together because even with one person missing everything falls apart and that I also learnt that you always have to try and avoid being the terrorist on the plane because he makes the entire flight difficult for everyone but the great thing about the trip is that now I know how to say “BELAYER” like the French.

The best part of the entire trip for me were the lessons you taught us because your wise words have definitely bonded us more to be a family, friendly to all and  HAPPY school.

Yours sincerely,
Cydrick S. Llido

Dear Anna and Andy

Thank you for giving us an amazing opportunity to go rock climbing. Even though things didn’t go as planned, I’m very grateful you took the effort of taking us elsewhere. My favourite part of the day was belaying my teacher, I was surely feeling pressured but right before we discussed more about it she told me she trusted me and that convinced me enough. I learnt many things from that day, knowing what to do with the 8 knotted rope, learning the steps of belaying, but what I learnt most was when we weren’t actually doing rock climbing, but when we did a model of an airplane. We discussed how one simple lack of responsibility could ruin the whole system, this is like not trusting your belayer, it would ruin your whole fun experience of rock climbing. Again, thank you very much for the opportunity, it was very fun!
